Welcome to the Tweeddale Arms Hotel
The Tweeddalearms Hotel is widely
recognised as one of the most attractive in Scotland, is
ideally situated
-
close
enough to Edinburgh to enable the visitor to sample all that
the historic city has to offer - exhibitions, theatres, concerts;
and deep enough in the glorious countryside of East Lothian
to give easy access to the beautiful coastline with sandy
beaches, cliffs and nature reserves, to the unspoilt expanses
of the Lammermuir Hills and to the numerous castles and country
houses in which the area abounds.
The Tweeddale Arms Hotel is probably the oldest building in this lovely village. In a title deed of 1687 it is referred to as 'the Great Inn at Gifford'. It stands in the mainly eighteen-century High Street, looking across the village green to the 300 year old avenue of lime trees leading to the gates of Yester House, formerly the home of the Marquesses of Tweeddale.
The village, widely recognised as one of the most attractive in Scotland, is ideally situated - close enough to Edinburgh to enable the visitor to sample all that the historic city has to offer - exhibitions, theatres, concerts; and deep enough in the glorious countryside of East Lothian to give easy access to the beautiful coastline with sandy beaches, cliffs and nature reserves, to the unspoilt expanses of the Lammermuir Hills and to the numerous castles and country houses in which the area abounds.
Many of Scotland's best known golf courses are within easy reach, and Gifford itself has a delightful nine-hole course.
